A NEW YEAR PRAYER

Precious Heavenly Father ….

May our faith be strong as we journey on
In the start of a brand-New Year
And our days be blessed with peace and rest
And freedom from doubt and fear

As we lift our hands and voices, Lord
In heartfelt thanks and praise
We’re grateful for the light You shine
Through darkest nights and days

Bring comfort, Lord, to those who weep
Whose hearts are filled with sorrow
O Saviour, give them strength, we pray
To face each new tomorrow

The Light of life and hope are You
The Rock on which we stand
O Sun of Righteousness, we pray
For healing in this land

Forever be our shelter, Lord
Throughout each night and day
And bring to pass Your perfect will
O Saviour, God, we pray.

Thank You, Lord .. Amen.

Thresholds

To simply make light of another one’s plight
Is like leaving them out in the rain
But from 0-10, we’re told to say “When”
So the doctor can find the pain
~
While one may get by, another may cry
Not everyone is the same
The soul is a place where we all need grace
Again and again and again
~
One soul may carry a load today
And then shed that load tomorrow
But what of the one who beneath the same
Also carries a load of sorrow
~
Some may be feeble, some may be strong
Some may be slow, or may speed
God knows how much each person can bear
And can help at our point of need
~
He knows our fears .. He bottles our tears
And encourages us to be strong
Forever to put our trust in Him
Believing it won’t be long
~
So whatever it is, whether great or small
Let’s listen with hearts of love
For “Blessed are the merciful” Jesus said
For they’ll have the same from above

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy”

Help Them Make It Through

Remembering the bereaved of Charleston, 2015.
Help Them Make It Through
Dearest Friends, I wrote this poem in 2012, but revised it recently on behalf of the dear family, friends and loved ones of the dear souls who lost their lives in the terrible massacre at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston recently. In times of grief, it can be very hard for many to cope. This poem is in support of the bereaved and any who may have suffered the loss of loved ones in terrible tragedies such as this.

Though the media spotlight may be gone, thoughts of you remain in our hearts
~  GOD BLESS YOU ALL  ~

Help Me to Lean

Dear Friends,

This journey called `life’ has its fair share of struggles, trials and battles. As we all know, the load can be so heavy at times. Now when I’m out shopping with my husband, sorry – HE has to carry the heavy bags, NOT ME! If I do it, I’m putting my back at risk. It’s too much. But there are times, during life’s trials, when it can be so easy to try “managing it” – you know, “getting by”, “coping” with it all. Then one day, suddenly, the load is overwhelming.

Too many times, I have forfeited the peace and rest I could have had in Christ, just by giving Him my “heavy bags” and handing my load over to Him. But the precious loving heart of Jesus, once again, melts mine, as He whispers words of peace within, or speaks through someone, or His word, saying “trust in Me”. His precious love inspires me again and again. Recently, He inspired me with the words of this poem: “Help Me to Lean”. I pray this will bless your heart.

HELP ME TO LEAN

God bless you richly!

Centre of My Joy

Sunset (for Centre of ..)

From the heavens, Love looked down,

left His glorious robe and crown
to pave the way for all of humankind.
Jesus Christ, the sacrifice –
for one and all He gave His life,
all because God had us on His mind.

Mercy looked beyond my shame
and lovingly called out my name,
saying “I have come to give you life”.
Forgiveness came with open arms,
enveloped my soul with calm
and took away the inner doubts and strife.

Happiness evaded me,
until I came to Calvary
and looked upon the face of Him Who died.
Freedom broke the bars of sin
when I opened up to Him
and, in my soul, new tears of joy I cried.

By His grace, I walk this road,
thankful for the love He showed;
the peace He gives me, nothing can destroy.
Strength within, He gives to me
and words of life that set me free.
He’s my hope, the Centre of my joy!

One for All

A poetic dramatization, based on the Biblical story of Jesus’ suffering and crucifixion.

Carrying the cross

“What’s going on? What’s going on?
Where are they going, this gathering throng?
Why are they shouting? Why are they mad?
Some look so happy. Many are sad”.

“Haven’t you heard? Where have you been?
They’ve taken Him, Jesus, the Nazarene”.

“I was away, but I’ve just returned,
I heard some talk that made my ears burn”.

“Quick move aside, they’re coming this way!
Oh, this is awful! A terrible day!
He only did good, was loving and kind.
There’s no-one like Him. He is divine!

Sick folk were healed, dead even raised.
I think the rulers envied His praise.
Multitudes loved to be blessed by His words,
So much more precious than any they’d heard.

He spoke of God’s kingdom and life from above.
He spoke of forgiveness, mercy and love;
That He is the Truth, the Life and the Way
To get to the Father, whenever we pray”.

“Merciful Father! Look at His head!
A crown of thorns, pierced ’til He bled!
Look at the sorrow and pain in His eyes
And still they are mocking with cruel cries”.

“Crucify Him!  Crucify Him!”
“Why? What wrong has He ever done?”
“Crucify Him!  Crucify Him!
Called Himself God’s only Son!”

“Leave Him alone!  He’s our Messiah!
He came to save us from hell’s fire!”

“Step aside woman, don’t get in the way!
If you’re so worried, start to pray!

“Oh no! They’re nailing His feet and hands!
The suffering and pain He bravely withstands.
No-one should ever have this to endure,
Especially someone so kind and so pure”
.
 . . . .

His body whipped, His flesh torn.
He bore the shame, mocked and scorned.
Upon the cross He felt alone;
Endured all of this, our sins to atone.

He suffered all for the entire world
And yet insults at Him are hurled.
He sacrificed Himself that day,
Gave His life and opened the way.

One man for all, Whose purity
Now meant that God could have mercy.
Jesus tasted of death and hell
But He ROSE AGAIN, ALIVE and WELL!

History cannot erase that day.
It happened, dear friend,
so that we could pray:

“Lord, I believe that YOU are the One
Who came to die, God’s only Son.
You took my place and died on a cross
to cleanse my soul from sinful dross.
I believe that You rose again.
Forgive me Lord of every sin.
Come, Lord Jesus, into my heart.
Help me to make a brand new start.
Wash me, cleanse and make me new.
From this day, I’ll follow You.
Thank You Lord that I’m forgiven
and ever will live with You in heaven”
Amen.

The cross - victory

Come Walk With Me

It’s a New Year, a New Day, dear friend. Whatever yesteryear may have brought, take courage …there’s hope in the Lord. The following is a poem of encouragement from my poetry book, Comfort & Hope, and is written like a “letter of love” from the Lord, as an expression of His compassionate heart. Take a quiet moment to read … and let Him speak to your heart…..

___________

Whatever we go through in life, it’s wonderful to know
that the Lord’s heart of love is always open and
His arms are always ready to welcome and embrace us……
______________

The poem above is the first in my second book of  inspirational poems
Comfort & Hope now available in paperback and e-book from Amazon.

Again and Again

pexels-photo-243125.jpeg

Who wants to be a candle,
that shines in a lowly place?
Who wants to be in the shadows,
where nobody knows your face?
Ploughing behind the scenes –

and sowing seeds of love?
Such a heart is precious
to our heavenly Father above.

 Who will keep on giving
their best for no return,
to help someone keep living,
though long-lost love they yearn?
There are so many people

who may have been ignored,
who need to know that they are loved –
it’s precious to our Lord.

While stars on high above us
in celestial realms do glow,
remember, it’s because of
dark surroundings that they show.
Now every soul is precious –

and needs to know we care.
When seeds of love have blown their way,
they’ll spread them everywhere.

So let us not be weary
in doing well, dear friends.
The season yet will come if we
hold steadfast to the end.
As blossoms follow sunshine

and also showers of rain,
we’ll reap if we keep sowing
seeds of love – again and again.

Make A Difference

Let’s make a difference

by things that we say;
help brighten the day,
along our life’s way.

Let’s make a difference
by showing we care,
by just being there
when emotions are bare.

Let’s make a difference
by staying a while,
by sharing a smile,
going that extra mile.

Let’s make a difference
by sharing God’s peace
that brings a release;
help worries to cease.

Let’s make a difference,
it may strike a chord,
bring untold reward
and praise to our Lord.

Let’s make a difference
along our life’s way.
“Lord help us, we pray
to start from today”.
